Woodchurch Animal Centre
Welcome to the RSPCA: Isle of Thanet Branch
incorporating the Woodchurch Animal Centre (formerly East Kent Animal Centre)
We are a LOCAL CHARITY dependant on our own resouces
The RSPCA Woodchurch Animal Centre (formerly East Kent Animal Centre) is an ongoing project by the Kent, Isle of Thanet Branch to help domestic animals and wildlife in the area.
It currently takes in and rehomes a large number of abandoned, unwanted and abused cats and small furries and will soon be taking its first dogs.
The centre also provides assistance in the area for the RSPCA Inspectorate.
More kennels, cat pens and small animals housing is planned for the future as money becomes available.
As well as caring for cats and dogs and other domestic animals, the Woodchurch Animal Centre will be involved with the rehabilitation of wildlife, one example is an orphaned hedgehog, which after a period of care from the local RSPCA branches was subsequently released into the wild.
It is also hoped to be able to take horses in the future.
To build such a Centre costs a lot of money.
It is vital to the animals in East Kent that all phases of this Centre are completed, but to achieve this we need your support.
The Kent Education Committee has donated a large portacabin which will enable us to progress our schools education programme.
The RSPCA Isle of Thanet Branch is a LOCAL charity that is completely self-funding receiving no money from the National Society or Government.
All the money needed to build and run the centre has been and is raised locally by our shops in Margate, Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Birchington, fundraising events, legacies and donations from the public, local school and business support and sponsorship.
Our running costs are currently around £100,000 a year and will increase once we start to take dogs.
There are many ways in which you can help.
