Stables

The East Kent Animal Centre was originally thought of 12 years ago. It became a real possibility about 10 years ago and since then the trustees and volunteers of the RSPCA Isle of Thanet Branch have worked tirelessly to make this project a reality. The project got a real boost when the branch were left a legacy by Theodora Pullinger a devoted animal lover and this money enabled us to purchase our chosen site.

In 2002 we purchased an open field which is just under 5 acres in size. It is a beautiful site in the countryside with stables and commercial dog kennels adjacent and more stables and a cattery very close by. An ideal site for an RSPCA animal centre.

The dream (which is now becoming a reality) is to build a centre of excellence which will not only deal with unwanted Dogs, Cats, Small animals, Exotics, Wildlife and Horses but will also provide an education and training facility and much more.

Without our volunteers and supporters this project would not have got off the ground so we owe them a big vote of thanks. There are too many to mention here and it would be wrong to name just a few.

We have just completed phase 1 but there is still so much more to do. We can only build as money becomes available. We are keen to work with local business (large and small) and with school so that we can build a centre of excellence which we can all be proud of.

Why we need your help ...

The Isle of Thanet Branch receives no state aid and is totally self funding. All the monies for the building and running of the animal centre have to be raised locally through our shops, with support and legacies form the public and with help from local businesses. The Branch's operating costs will increase dramatically now with the vast majority of the expenditure being the running costs of our new Animal Centre. It is therefore vital that we maintain a regular income to secure the welfare of animals in our care.

Please make time and help our animals by looking at our web site. Any help no matter how small will make such a difference.
