Fundraising: How You Can Help
Leave Us a Legacy ...
It is only with your help that we can complete the building of the East Kent Animal Centre and continue our vital work in animal welfare.
The East Kent Animal Centre is a major project by local volunteers to build an animal centre to help the unwanted animals in East Kent. However, we can only build in phases as money becomes available.
In addition to helping animals, the Centre will also have an education and training room so
that children and local people can come along to learn more about animal welfare.
As well as caring for cats and dogs and other domestic animals, the new East Kent Animal Centre will be involved with the rehabilitation of wildlife like this hedgehog and seal, both of which were rescued in Thanet and successfully rehabilitated.
A LEGACY OR BEQUEST will provide crucial funds, not only to complete the project but to ensure the Centre’s long-term future.
If you are making a Will, please remember the RSPCA Kent, Isle of Thanet Branch and the East Kent Animal Centre.
All the RSPCA branches are separately registered charities and in Thanet we are entirely dependent on our own resources, so if you would like the animals in East Kent to benefit, please make sure that the legacy wording reads:
I give £…………..to the RSPCA Kent, Isle of Thanet Branch, Registered Charity number 209365 and express the wish that this legacy must be used solely for the benefit of the RSPCA East Kent Animal Centre.
What is Payroll Giving? ...
It is a simple tax effective way to support any charity of your choice. You decide how much you want to give each week or month by completing a form, you ask your payroll department to deduct your donation from your pay at source.
How does my donation reach my charity?
Your payroll department sends your total donation to an Inland Revenue approved Payroll Giving Agency which forwards your gift on to your chosen charity(ies) every month.

Gift Aid ...

How Gift Aid works
The Gift Aid scheme is for gifts of money by individuals who pay UK tax. Gift Aid donations are regarded as having basic rate tax deducted by the donor.
Charities or CASCs take your donation - which is money you've already paid tax on - and reclaim basic rate tax from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) on its 'gross' equivalent - the amount before basic rate tax was deducted.
Basic rate tax is 20 per cent, so this means that if you give £10 using Gift Aid, it's worth £12.50 to the charity. For donations between 6 April 2008 and 5 April 2011 the charity or CASC will also get a separate government supplement of 3p on every pound you give.
Claiming back higher rate tax
If you pay higher rate tax, you can claim the difference between the higher rate of tax (40 per cent) and the basic rate of tax (20 per cent) on the total (gross) value of your donation to the charity or CASC.
For example, if you donate £100, the total value of your donation to the charity is £125 - so you can claim back 20 per cent of this (£25) for yourself. You can make this claim on your Self Assessment tax return if you were sent one.

JOIN THE 4000 CLUB AND HELP OUR ANIMALS
The building of the much needed cat and dog isolation blocks is nearly complete seeing the first dogs arriving at the centre soon. The next phase of building will be a block of dog kennels when funding becomes available, followed by a further cattery and purpose built small animal accommodation.
As you can imagine the cost of building and running such a centre is enormous and as we receive no financial help either from the Government or the central RSPCA the branch is Totally responsible for finding all its own funding.
To this end we have started the "4000 Club" in which we are asking people to donate £2 per month by Standing Order (more can be given if you wish). If you feel that you can help us in this way it really would be appreciated and would enable us to continue our dream of a brighter future for animals.
Please Click Here to view our leaflet and form which you can print out and send to us.
If you would like to help us in any other way perhaps you could tick the appropriate boxes on the back of the form.
To support the Isle of Thanet Branch and Woodchurch Animal Centre by contributing a standing order, please complete the form on the reverse side of this leaflet
Help Us to Help Them
Sponsor a Cat or Small Animal Pen ...
For a nominal sum you can sponsor a cat pen (£3.50) or a small animal pen (£2) for a week and so help with the cost of caring for the occupant.
This small amount will mean a lot to us and you won’t even know it’s gone.
Read on to see how you can help
Each year RSPCA Isle of Thanet Branch rehomes abused and abandoned companion animals from the Animal Centre.
Our policy is not to put animals to sleep unless they are seriously ill, following a Vet’s advice, or on the grounds of temperament which would make them unsuitable to live in a home.
These occasions are kept to a minimum and such difficult decisions are only taken when all other options have been exhausted.
By carefully controlling expenditure we keep the cost for each animal passing through the Centre to a minimum. However, veterinary care is costing us much more each year and we are desperately in need of your help.
A certificate with your name on will be displayed on one of the animal pens.
If you wish to sponsor a particular animal please let us know on the form below.
