Patron June Brown visits our animal centre
Patron June Brown, the much loved actress who plays Dot Cotton in Eastenders, payed a surprise flying visit to the RSPCA Woodchurch Animal Centre whilst in the area this weekend.
June was very impressed with the facilities and care at the centre. She was amazed at what had been achieved by a small local group of volunteers in building such a centre with the support and generosity of local people and hoped to see it grow into the future. June's delightful sense of humour soon had us all laughing and we hope it won't be too long before we have the pleasure of her company again.
The Isle of Thanet Branch would like to thank June very much for taking the time to visit the centre when she has such a busy schedule. |
JOIN THE 4000 CLUB AND HELP OUR ANIMALS
The building of the much needed cat and dog isolation blocks is nearly complete seeing the first dogs arriving at the centre soon. The next phase of building will be a block of dog kennels when funding becomes available, followed by a further cattery and purpose built small animal accommodation.
As you can imagine the cost of building and running such a centre is enormous and as we receive no financial help either from the Government or the central RSPCA the branch is Totally responsible for finding all its own funding.
To this end we have started the "4000 Club" in which we are asking people to donate £2 per month by Standing Order (more can be given if you wish). If you feel that you can help us in this way it really would be appreciated and would enable us to continue our dream of a brighter future for animals. Please Click Here to view our leaflet and form which you can print out and send to us.
If you would like to help us in any other way perhaps you could tick the appropriate boxes on the back of the form. To support the Isle of Thanet Branch and Woodchurch Animal Centre by contributing a standing order, please complete the form on the reverse side of this leaflet |

These all produce some sort of fruit or nuts for wildlife. The saplings were planted along part of the main fence attached to the reception block by Kevin Baker, an experienced volunteer gardener, assisted by Pearl Pearce and Rob Goodwin. Kevin prepared the ground on Friday 4th December and planted the saplings on Saturday 5th December between 11.00 am and 12 noon. |

Wesley Update
WESLEY SAYS THANK YOU…..
Hey - do you remember me - it’s Wesley the pup you all helped raise money for! Just look at me now!!! Do you know I had no idea I had sooo many friends out there!! What can I say. I am humbled by the response to the appeal set up by my carers in the RSPCA Isle of Thanet Branch. Do you know that you raised £2,400 towards the cost of my operations to help me back to a normal life. Of course you have all been so generous but I have to add a special thank you to my young friends in York House at St. George’s School Broadstairs because they worked so hard for me. They raised around £1,000 towards my operations - just amazing. I recently paid them a ‘thank you’ visit and did I have fun!!! You can see this from the picture I am enjoying myself.
Kate Matthews, spokesman for the RSPCA Isle of Thanet Branch said: ‘Wesley has made a fantastic recovery and is making up for lost time. He is very happy in his new home and we hope he will have a long and happy life - he is such a loving, gentle dog. We would like to thank everyone who has contributed in any way to Wesley’s operations. He is a truly lucky boy’
