Our cats are finding wonderful homes. Here are some of the stories.
DIBLEY LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
Dibley was our oldest and longest resident having been at the cattery for 146 days.
She loved her pod and wasn’t especially sociable when people came to see her although she was lovely with the staff at the centre.
Originally Dibley was dumped on the steps of a church in Broadstairs and came to the centre where because of where she had come from and her colouring she was named Dibley. After so long we began to wonder what we could do to help Dibley find a home when out of the blue a Reverand from Canterbury who phoned and expressed an interest in her. She came to visit and it was love at first sight. Dibley was a princess and did none of her usual tricks. Dibley is now in her new home.
SOOTY AT LAST A PLACE OF MY OWN
We recently homed Sooty to an older couple and Sooty keeps sending us pictures and emails. Here is a picture of Sooty in her new home having chosen her favourite chair.
MARBLES
I'M THE ONE ON THE RIGHT WITH MY NEW MUM CHARITY
Marbles was an RSPCA rescue originally which Charity took on. He absolutely loved his time at the centre and sulked when he went home.
Hello, to everyone at East Kent animal centre,
it's me, Lizzie or as my mum and dad call me, Izzy. I thought I'd send you this picture of my new older brother Max and myself, we are sitting on next door's garage roof together. Max is ok, sometimes he gets to close and I don't like it so I give him a slap!! We do get on at times and even cuddle up together but its on my terms. I'm the BOSS, he just needs to be reminded every once in a while.
My mum thinks I'm putting on weight but the I've just been caught out, you see since being aloud out, I've been going round to the neighbour for food, "They feed me fresh ham and its yummy.." they did not know where I came from until my mum officially introduced me. Shame really cos I think I was on to a good thing there.
I'm still very vocal at times mainly when mum and dad are having their dinner, the problem is they just don't understand what I am saying to them.
I love the cuddles they both give me, all the attention is great.
I just wanted to thank you for finding my new family for me, and for all your loving care you all gave me whilst I was with you.
I hope that all the other pets at the centre find as nicer home as I have.
Thank you very much
Love
Izzy

Wesley's Story: Result of Appeal
Latest news on Wesley scroll down
“Do you think I’m cute? My name is Wesley. This is me when I was tiny but I am now 8 months old. When I was born I had a problem with my hips. My owners could’t afford the operations so they asked the RSPCA Isle of Thanet Branch if they could help me. They have looked after me since I was tiny but now I am older and my hips are no better I have to have some big, expensive operations so that I can grow up and lead a normal life. Because my operations are going to cost such a lot of money (up to £3,000) my friends in the Thanet Branch launched an appeal to see if anyone would like to help me. I must say I have been so flattered by the response. Kind people (and I think furry supporters as well) have raised £2,000 so far to help pay for my treatment. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I really do want to be able to play with all my friends properly and now it looks as if that is going to happen.
I have been asked to tell you that if you send in more money than is needed for my operations other friends of mine in need at the new East Kent Animal Centre at Woodchurch will get the benefit of some help as well. So you can see it is not only me that might benefit. But whatever happens my friends in the Thanet Branch have promised me I will be OK. I hope to speak to you again in the Spring when I am REALLY on the mend after my second operation in January.
The Thanet Branch would like to add a big thank you to EVERYONE who has contributed to Wesley’s operation costs but especially to the 150 pupils of YORK HOUSE, ST. GEORGE’S SCHOOL, BROADSTAIRS who raised a staggering £728 to help him. We hope that he will be able to visit the school soon to say thank you himself!! Many people still believe that this sort of thing is paid for by the National Society but it is not. The Thanet Branch as an independant charity has to raise all funds locally to support its work.
If anyone still wishes to contribute towards Wesley’s operations please send donations to Wesley Appeal, PO Box 392,Ramsgate, Kent, CT12 5WF
Wesley Update
WESLEY SAYS THANK YOU…..
Hey - do you remember me - it’s Wesley the pup you all helped raise money for! Just look at me now!!! Do you know I had no idea I had sooo many friends out there!! What can I say. I am humbled by the response to the appeal set up by my carers in the RSPCA Isle of Thanet Branch. Do you know that you raised £2,400 towards the cost of my operations to help me back to a normal life. Of course you have all been so generous but I have to add a special thank you to my young friends in York House at St. George’s School Broadstairs because they worked so hard for me. They raised around £1,000 towards my operations - just amazing. I recently paid them a ‘thank you’ visit and did I have fun!!! You can see this from the picture I am enjoying myself.
Sorry it has taken me a bit of time to write and say thanks to everyone but I only had my last op. in April and I thought I would like to wait until that was over. Now I am getting stronger by the day and playing with my friend Susie like a normal, happy young fella! Never thought I would see the day so - thanks a million folks for your help, thanks to my friends at Eagle Vets and thanks to all those people who have nursed me through. Now I am really going to have some overdue fun.....................what’s that - NO! Sorry I don’t understand that word..........
Kate Matthews, spokesman for the RSPCA Isle of Thanet Branch said: ‘Wesley has made a fantastic recovery and is making up for lost time.
He is very happy in his new home and we hope he will have a long and
happy life - he is such a loving, gentle dog. We would like to thank
everyone who has contributed in any way to Wesley’s operations. He is
a truly lucky boy’
" I'm so lucky to have friends"
